The competition was orchestrated by the National Association of Students of Architecture, India, in collaboration with ICOMOS India. The primary objective was to address the contemporary challenge of cultural diversity loss, where individuals often forget their cultural roots. Our focus was on studying, preserving, and revitalizing traditional knowledge systems for global economic improvement in a comprehensive manner. The emphasis lay on adopting eco-friendly technologies to enable sustainable growth without environmental harm.
The selected documentation site was a disused defense fort, accompanied by an underdeveloped adjoining village. Our proposal sought to address both issues by reimagining the existing structure with a nod to its historical significance. The transformed site would serve as a Vocational Centre, providing employment opportunities for local artisans. This innovative approach not only contributes to economic development but also attracts tourists to the village, thereby increasing overall footfall. The project embodies a holistic strategy to prevent cultural erosion while fostering economic and environmental sustainability.
